Such Good Fortune!

Back in April, we went to Joy Wah for Chinese food to celebrate my husband and son's birthdays. I was very lucky and got two fortunes in my one cookie!

It sounded like someone dark and mysterious was in my future....

heh, heh, heh!

Ahem...

I don't live my life by fortune cookie but they always crack me up.

When I found out I was pregnant with my first (son), Tom and I went out for Chinese food ~ my fortune cookie read...

"You have an exciting time in store for you!"

We just had no idea....

My husband's stepdad's fortune always reads,

"Help! I'm stuck in a  fortune cookie factory and I can't get out!"

What about you.... have you ever received any exciting predictions from the mouth of a cookie?

Buttercups!

Oops! I missed my anniversary!

My DSLR was a birthday gift last year and my birthday is somewhere around here.=]

BUT!

The camera came in the mail on June eighth!

I read enough of the manual to figure out how to make it go "click" and headed out to the meadow, behind our house, in the noonday sun.

and, I took this photo...

...which was a bit of a lucky shot considering I kept getting confused with why everything was, sometimes, so dark!

(I kept forgetting to take the lens cap off - heh, heh. Lesson for the day learned!=])

Well! Here I am, one year later, taking photos of buttercups again and having a blast.

(Alright, well, technically, this one from last year isn't a buttercup but, still.... the point is....)

I love my camera!!!

Back when the world was like this....

...and, the wild pussy willows were just budding out and the everything was glowing but the weather was still quite chilly....

...I decided to try my hand at a new recipe for soup - Corn Chowder...

... and, some food photography...

Both worked out reasonably well but I really think that I should try again!
